The child that inspired THAT Bebeto celebration has joined Portuguese club Sporting

Mattheus Oliveira was the inspiration for the iconic Brazilian celebration at the 1994 World Cup.

THEY GROW UP so fast.

It’s one of the most iconic celebrations in World Cup history, when Jose Roberto Gama de Oliveira — or Bebeto to you and me — scored his side’s second goal in their win over the Dutch in the 1994 quarter-finals.

His wife had just given birth to their third child, Mattheus, and Bebeto celebrated by rocking an invisible cradle back and forth.

Mattheus has turned into a decent footballer himself and, after impressing with Estoril, he has signed with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.

The club announced the signing today, adding that the 22-year old had signed on until 2022 with a buy-out clause of €60 million.

Bebeto tweeted how proud he was but, like any good dad, warned him it doesn’t mean he can stop working hard saying:

“So proud of you son. Continue working hard and with humility you will go far. Then you can enter the history of Sporting.”
